Karl Landwehr
Kannengasse 15/17
Karl Landwehr was Anna Margaretha Hahn’s maternal uncle. He was born on 15 July 1877 in Dainbach, the son of the day labourer Johann Landwehr and his wife Christina Landwehr.
Karl Landwehr remained unmarried throughout his life and worked as a farmer until his admission to the Psychiatric-Neurological Clinic of Heidelberg University. The clinic records cite a nervous disorder as the reason for his admission on 23 January 1935. He was transferred to Wiesloch as early as 7 February 1935.
The fact that the local poor relief association of the municipality of Dainbach had to pay for his accommodation in the third class of care points to the poverty of the 57-year-old.
Karl Landwehr lived in Wiesloch for a further five years, until he was deported from there to Grafeneck on 16 May 1940 and murdered immediately upon arrival.
