Anna Margaretha Hahn
Kannengasse 15/17
Anna Margaretha Hahn was born on 18 October 1909 in Dainbach. Her parents were Johann Georg Hefner and his wife Anna. At the age of 25, on 11 November 1936, she married Alfons Eugen Hahn, a farmer from Beckstein, in Dainbach. The couple lived in Beckstein, where they had their first son, Otto, in August 1937. Their second child, Erwin, followed in February 1939.
Her admission to the Psychiatric Hospital in Würzburg on 18 November 1940 marked a major turning point in her life – even though she remained in Würzburg for just over a month, until shortly before Christmas, and presumably returned to live with her family in Beckstein afterwards.
On 7 February 1944, Anna Hahn was admitted to a psychiatric hospital once again – this time to the Wiesloch Sanatorium. From there, she was transferred to Hadamar on 6 June 1944, along with 169 other residents of the sanatorium. Her life came to an end on 19 July 1944 at 5 o’clock in the morning.
The cause of death on her death certificate was listed as “mental illness, intestinal flu”, but the cause of death was usually falsified to deceive relatives and the authorities.
